Who is the Together program for?
The Together program is for families with any children between the ages of 9 and 11 (if there are younger children in the family they can come too and do activities just for them). Adults and kids both participate in this program - it's not a drop-off activity. The adults who take part should be primary caretakers/family members who have regular contact with the kids.

Why take part in the Together program?
The Together program helps both kids and parents build their love of reading and discussion. Together is not a literacy program, and it is best for kids and adults who already know how to read comfortably. It is a great program for kids who need extra support and encouragement to read and talk about books, and for parents who want to make reading and discussion an important part of their home lives. Studies show that there are crucial links between this type of activity and future student achievement.

What is the Together program all about?
The Together program involves six 90-minute discussion sessions, which are run by two facilitators who work together to get everyone involved and engaged in talking about books and ideas. Each session focuses on a children's book related to a big theme like "courage" or "freedom". All of the books in the program are available for families to take out of the library. Snacks and activities for younger children are also part of each session.
