Teacher Resources

The Children's Room of the Central Library maintains a Teacher Resource Center, with materials for classroom teachers, home school families, parents and educators. The materials include curriculum support, educational theory and practice, using literature in subject areas, learning styles, creating bulletin boards and much more. Children's librarians welcome education students, tutors and all types of teachers to use this collection to enhance and support their teaching. Teachers are encouraged to notify us of assignments that will require students to use public libraries and we will make every effort to have materials available. Early notification of summer reading assignments is also helpful, so extra copies of popular books can be ordered.

Some of the services we offer include:
 • Class visits to the library or a classroom visit by the public librarian
 • Specialized workshops for teachers or organizations
 • Summer Reading Program
 • Specialized book lists and bibliographies
 • Magazines such as Mailbox, Teacher's Helper, BookLinks, Teaching K-8 and more
 • Caldecott and Newbery collections
 • Foreign Language books

 • Multi-media Kits
