The
Children's Room of the Central Library maintains a circulating Parent
Resource Center. Materials include selected titles on parent
education, child development, child behavior, test preparation, special
education and much more.
In addition, children's
librarians have developed numerous multi-media kits
that include books, videos, puppets, games, and other materials. The
kits explore a variety of topics that may interest families with children
of all ages. Family Reading Kits
contain books and a variety of media on a broad topic. Story
Kits are story hours in a bag; with
selected books on a theme, related songs and finger plays and puppets.
Science Kits
include numerous books on a curriculum related science concept, plus
materials to observe, collect or measure.
The Math Center
in the Children's Room groups selected math resources for parents
to help children with homework or reinforce math concepts. Manipulatives
such as dominoes, magnetic letters, pattern puzzles and other toys
are available to use. Math Kits
containing a math story book, math lesson and related activity may
also be checked out.
